The new doctor clinic in Wagga
Dr Carl Henman and Dr Jodi Culbert are very pleased to announce their new project – Riverina Family Medicine.
After many years living and working as doctors in the local community they are delighted to invest their considerable skills and experience into a brand new medical clinic. They are keen to see their passion for looking after their patients from “cradle to grave” be possible in a place that will provide comprehensive and compassionate care for all.
Having lived, worked and completed their medical training locally in the Wagga area for more than 10 years they are well placed to understand the medical needs and medical resources in the Wagga Community.
Dr Henman is a Wagga boy born and bred! He studied at Kooringal High, CSU and University of NSW Wagga Rural Clinical School. Dr Culbert, is a bit of a newcomer to town, relatively speaking, since she’s only been here for 11 years! After studying medicine at the University of Sydney she moved here as an intern with a plan to stay for two years but found she enjoyed Wagga too much to leave. They both work hard as doctors, to maintain and develop the professional links with specialist colleagues that they have made during their time in Wagga for the benefit of their patients.
They both have specialised skills and additional qualifications in particular areas:
- Dr Henman - Full Obstetric Services (including antental care, deliveries at Wagga Base Hospital and post-natal care), Advanced Ultrasound including Fetal Medicine Services and Paediatrics
- Dr Culbert- Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine, Mental Health and Paediatrics
They both love using these advanced skills to provide extra services for their patients. However, they are passionate about the importance of holistic general practice and are designing Riverina Family Medicine to be a place where you can experience medical excellence and compassionate care for all your health needs. Dr Culbert and Dr Henman are proud of being General Practitioners and dealing with the full range of patient health needs. Simple or complex, acute or chronic, male or female, young... or a little older than that, if you have a medical problem, Riverina Family Medicine will be your first step to getting it sorted out.
As well as being busy clinicians, Dr Henman and Dr Culbert are also committed to serving the broader medical and general Wagga Wagga community. They are both involved in teaching medial students at UNSW and Dr Culbert is currently pursing her research interest there (in physical activity and health promotion). Dr Henman is also a board member of the Riverina Kids Cottage/Ronald McDonald House and the Deputy Chair of the GP Advisory Committee of RANZCOG. Dr Culbert is a board member and director of the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network and active on a number of its committees. She is also an active Medical Educator for GP Synergy, the NSW training organisation for GP trainees.
Outside of work, Dr Henman enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children and keeps active with the odd cycling or triathlon adventure. Dr Culbert enjoys trying to find some time to kayak and dreaming up new creations for her wood-fired pizza oven.
Dr Culbert and Dr Henman look forward to welcoming you to Riverina Family Medicine soon! They will be updating their Facebook page regularly, as the renovations progress on their new building.
